Did you know, on Jan. 1, 2018, a new epa refrigerant disposal recordkeeping requirement took effect for certain HVAC/R appliances? This is important to know for your refrigerant tracking and planning.
Here’s all the basics you need to know about the new epa refrigerant disposal requirement for environmental sustainability, corporate sustainability, and decreasing your environmental footprint.
New EPA Refrigerant Disposal Requirement Is Part of EPA 608 Update And Took Effect January 1, 2018
Whether this is the first time you’ve heard of this new requirement or you need a refresher on all the nitty-gritty details of what you need to record, don’t worry because we’ve got you covered.
So, first things first, this new requirement is a part of the EPA 608 Update, which phases in over three compliance dates: Jan. 1, 2017; Jan. 1, 2018; and Jan. 1, 2019.
This requirement took effect on the second, staggered compliance date: Jan. 1, 2018.
You Now Must Keep Records When You Dispose of Mid-Sized Appliances
Importantly, technicians who dispose of mid-sized HVAC/R units with a full charge of more than 5 and less than 50 pounds of controlled refrigerant must keep records of the following information for three years:
